Laver's Law

I honestly feel a bit confused about trends. How can something you wore many years ago, (and swore that you would never wear again after seeing an old photo of yourself wearing it, looking ridiculous), return and be “in fashion” again?

James Laver can tell you exactly why. He was an author, art historian and museum curator for Victoria & Albert Museum. He’s also known for being an important and pioneering fashion historian.

He created a model known as “Laver’s Law“. Laver’s Law says that fashions have a timeline, and are considered to be:

So in 20 years when I see a photo of how I look today, I will think I look ridiculous again, but then after 150 years I would find myself looking beautiful.

Tie that bow

Bows are still alive in the A/W 09 trends. This is a few selected bows from the catwalks.

Dip/Tie Dye

We have seen the dip-dye trend at many catwalks for the Spring 2009 collections, and I also think tie-dye will be a new trend in the Spring/Summer 2009.

The Bare Midriff

I was inspired by thefashionspot.com when they pointed out the tendency about the Spring 2009 collections where you don´t cover the mid-section of the body.

I´m very skeptical about this trend because I don´t think I would feel so comfortable wearing it, but it also fascinates me how a trend from the nineties can emerge yet again. And I must admit that these girls look amazing. (pictures from catwalking.com)

Catwalking.com

I’m now so privileged to have the access to catwalking.com. This is the site fashionjournalists use to get pictures from every fashionshow and to see the trends in the different seasons. So I will be posting about some of the trends in my future blogs.

Here´s one of my favorite trends in A/W 08:
