Malin Baumann

I first saw her designs in a little boutique in Sweden and I wanted to know more about her designs. She´s a swedish designer who is located in Tokyo. Her latest collection is called “SCRIPTIONS” and it´s all about how letters become words and words become meaning and letters become patterns, patterns become meaning.

“Letters are symbols that are arranged to become words. They are constructed into meanings to form communication. “Scriptions”, a series of patterns, uses letters as a visual graphic element to create decorative expressions.
The objects, basic and plain, start as blank canvases and are transformed into handmade badges and panels that are upholstered with screen printed fabric . By grouping, the patterns together return to their original function and become words, phrases, or a specific created statement.”
