The London-based, German designer, Markus Lupfer is known for his use of fabric and approach to sequined embroidery. I especially fell for these two pieces which look amazing, and notice the big gold-ring. I would love to see him create another line for Topshop.

I honestly feel a bit confused about trends. How can something you wore many years ago, (and swore that you would never wear again after seeing an old photo of yourself wearing it, looking ridiculous), return and be “in fashion” again?

James Laver can tell you exactly why. He was an author, art historian and museum curator for Victoria & Albert Museum. He’s also known for being an important and pioneering fashion historian.

He created a model known as “Laver’s Law“. Laver’s Law says that fashions have a timeline, and are considered to be:

The etiquette of bicycling has often been discussed. It seems simple enough, especially to those who are familiar with the rule of the road in riding or driving. But thousands of bicyclists belong to a class which is ignorant of the charms of horse exercise, and they may be unaware that the rule of the road is exactly the opposite to that which guides pedestrians on the footpath.

All riders keep to the left. In passing other bicyclists or vehicles that are in advance, a détour is made to the right; but in meeting traffic of any kind the rider keeps close to the left. When wheeling with a man, the girl bicyclist will probably be given the safer side of the road. He would keep on her right in ordinary traffic, so as to be between her and approaching vehicles. A little thoughtfulness for others would suggest to all wheelwomen that to ride very rapidly past invalids in bath chairs or parties of children who are in front of her, sounding the bell sharply and suddenly in their ears, is a bit of bad manners.

It is also well to exercise prudence in passing other vehicles, remembering that one risks not only one’s own safety but imperils that of others by attempting anything rash. Not very long ago a woman on a bicycle, in endeavouring to cut in between an approaching four-in-hand and a cart, caused a terrible accident in which the coach was overturned, several people (including herself) were badly hurt, and a couple of valuable horses so badly damaged that they had to be shot. A little prudence would have prevented this and would certainly have counted as good manners.
